Bad weather program

If only it would rain more often!

There is no such thing as bad weather in Vienna.  After all, we’re not at the beach here, but in one of the great cities of the old world. Some days are perfect for a walk in the imperial gardens, others are more suited to a tour of the imperial palace. Sure, it's beautiful outside - but it's often even more beautiful inside in Vienna. Not only, but also at Hotel Tyrol.

Shopping malls

The large, covered shopping malls such as "Steffl" or the "Ringstraßengalerien" on the Kärntner Straße are definitely worth a visit. Here, there are many shops under one roof. This also includes "Gerngross", which is right by the hotel on the Mariahilfer Straße. It’s not covered but is especially luxurious: Vienna’s most exclusive shopping district awaits you in the city – take a stroll in the Goldenes Quartier through upscale flagship stores of international designer labels and experience luxury shopping in the historic ambiance.

For a short break, we recommend a cozy coffeehouse. Vienna is famous worldwide for its pastries. Along with a cup of hot Melange, it is an almost heavenly pleasure. Or perhaps you are in the mood for traditional Viennese delicacies? You simply must try Tafelspitz (boiled beef), Kaiserschmarren pancakes, or Wiener Schnitzel. You can find our best restaurant tips under “Wining and Dining”.

Culture

If you are interested in culture, you have a rich selection in Vienna. For good reason, Karl Kraus wrote in the 1920s: "The streets of Vienna are paved with culture. The streets of other cities with asphalt." Museums, galleries, exhibits – the possibilities are seemingly endless. You can find all info at Information about Vienna. We would especially like to recommend the Museumsquartier, not only because it is located right next door, but also because there are many museums right next to one another: Architekturzentrum Wien, Kunsthalle Wien, Leopold Museum, MUMOK, ZOOM Children’s Museum, and quartier21. You can walk from one cultural highlight to the next without getting wet in the rain.
