Bad weather

Shopping &
Culture

If it would only rain more often!

There is no such thing as bad weather in Vienna. After all, we're not at the beach here, but in one of the metropolises of the old world.

Some days are perfect for a walk in the imperial gardens, others for a tour of the imperial palace. Sure, it's nice outside - but it's often even nicer inside in Vienna. Not only, but also at the Hotel Tyrol.

Shopping-Malls

The large, covered shopping malls such as "Steffl" or the "Ringstraßengalerien" in Kärntner Straße are definitely worth a visit. Here you have many shops under one roof. Just like the "Gerngross" right next to the hotel on Mariahilfer Straße. Not covered, but particularly luxurious: Vienna's most exclusive shopping district awaits you in the city: stroll through the elegant flagship stores of international designer labels in the Goldenes Quartier and experience luxury shopping in a historic ambience.

We recommend a cosy coffee house for a short break. Vienna is world-famous for its pastries. Together with a hot melange, it is an almost heavenly pleasure. Or perhaps you fancy some typical Viennese specialities? You simply have to try Tafelspitz, Kaiserschmarren or Wiener Schnitzel. You can find our best restaurant tips under “Food and drink” besten Lokaltipps

Culture

If you are passionate about culture, you have plenty of choice in Vienna. Karl Kraus wrote in the 1920s for good reason: "The streets of Vienna are paved with culture. The streets of other cities are paved with asphalt." Museums, galleries, exhibitions - the possibilities are almost endless. You can find all the information you need under Sightseeing. And we would particularly like to recommend the Museumsquartier. Not only because it's right next door, but also because there are numerous museums in close proximity to each other: Architekturzentrum Wien, Kunsthalle Wien, Leopold Museum, MUMOK, ZOOM Children's Museum and quartier21. You can hike from one cultural highlight to the next without getting wet.
